Behind the Brief: Tribe Breweries

Five Brands, One Brewery, One Shoot

Tribe Breweries isn’t your typical craft brewery. They’re a collective operating out of one facility, producing five distinct brands: Stockade Brew Co, Mornington Peninsula Brewery, Pabst Blue Ribbon, Wilde, and Aloha 65. Each has its own personality, its own audience, and its own story. But they all share one roof and one team.

That’s what made this project interesting. We weren’t just filming a brewery. We were telling the story of a business that manages to be five different things at once without losing its identity.

The Brief

Tribe needed a brand video and photography suite that could do two jobs. First, it had to showcase the scale and professionalism of their operation for distribution partners and potential business clients. Second, it had to capture the craft, character, and community feel that makes people want to visit the taproom on a Saturday afternoon.

Those two audiences want different things. A distributor wants to see a clean facility, efficient processes, and a team that knows what they’re doing. A craft beer lover wants to see passion, personality, and the kind of behind-the-scenes access that makes them feel connected to the product.

The content had to serve both without feeling generic.

How We Approached It

We planned a structured shoot schedule that mapped Tribe’s full operation from start to finish. That meant starting in the brewhouse, moving through quality assurance and packaging, following the logistics chain, and ending up in the taproom where the product meets the public.

The filming style was documentary-led. We wanted it to feel real, not rehearsed. We interviewed brewers, quality control staff, logistics team members, and taproom patrons. Each person gave us a different angle on what Tribe actually is and why it works.

We also used drone and b-roll footage to position Tribe as a modern, scalable business. This wasn’t a hobby brewery in someone’s garage. The aerial shots showed the facility’s footprint, and the ground-level footage showed the precision and care that goes into every batch.

One of the key creative decisions was treating each sub-brand as a character within the larger story. Rather than splitting the content into five separate pieces, we wove them together. You see Stockade’s bold identity, Mornington’s coastal roots, and Aloha 65’s laid-back energy all within the same film, connected by the people and processes that hold Tribe together.

What We Delivered

  • A flagship 2 to 3 minute brand film covering the full Tribe story
  • Four vertical social videos (15 to 30 seconds each) optimised for Instagram Reels and TikTok
  • 30 to 60 professionally edited photos for website, campaigns, and PR

The brand film became the centrepiece of Tribe’s digital presence, and it is still running as the hero video on their website today. Dean Wall, Tribe’s marketing manager, described the project as one where the team developed various options and was always open to feedback and fine-tuning throughout — which is exactly how brand video production should work when the stakes are high.

The social cutdowns gave them ready-to-post content that maintained the same quality and tone as the hero film, just in bite-sized format.

Why This Project Worked

A lot of businesses struggle to tell their story because they try to say everything at once. Tribe had the opposite problem: they had five stories and needed to tell them as one.

The documentary approach was the right call here. It gave us room to explore each brand without the video feeling like a catalogue. And by anchoring the whole thing in the people, the process, and the facility, we created something that felt authentic rather than produced.

For any business with a complex offering, whether that’s multiple brands, multiple services, or multiple locations, the lesson is the same. Don’t try to explain everything in text. Show people the operation, introduce them to the team, and let the work speak for itself. That’s what brand video does at its best. It takes something complicated and makes it feel simple, human, and worth paying attention to.
