CPA Australia brought Studio Who to the Gold Coast to cover their national Congress - one of the largest professional development events in the country. Three days, four crew, thousands of attendees, and a highlight film edited and played live to over 200 guests at the business lunch on the final day.
CPA Australia is one of the largest professional accounting bodies in the world, and their annual Congress is their biggest event of the year. They brought Studio Who back for 2025 - having worked together before - to handle the full media brief across three days at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The scope was broad: event photography across keynotes, sessions, sponsors and networking; a live headshot booth at their sponsored stand; editorial stills for CPA's Integrated Annual Report; vox-pop member interview videos for social; B-roll for the social media team; and a same-day highlight reel edited and delivered before the final guests left the building.
The Challenge
Scale and logistics
Multiple concurrent sessions across a large venue, thousands of attendees, and a crew of four working across different areas at the same time - all needing to stay in sync.
Same-day delivery
The highlight video had to be captured, edited and delivered on the final day - while coverage was still ongoing. There was no margin for a slow edit.
Live headshot gallery
Headshots needed to sync to a live gallery via QR code as they were taken - giving attendees instant access to their portraits without any manual handling.
Scope that grew on the day
CPA's social media team added vox-pop interviews and MC hype content during the lead-up - requiring additional crew and a flexible production plan.
Koome led the video team while Dave Beach handled primary photography. A second and third videographer were brought in to handle concurrent sessions and the expanded social media scope - so nothing was missed regardless of what was happening where.
The crew worked in close contact throughout the day, dividing coverage across the main stage, exhibition floor, sponsor activations, networking spaces and the headshot stand - and regrouping between sessions to flag hero shots for the edit.
The headshot booth ran across two days at CPA's sponsored stand. As each portrait was taken, it synced automatically to a live gallery - accessible via QR code. No waiting, no chasing. Attendees walked away from the stand with a link to their professional headshot.
The setup was designed to be quick, consistent and low-friction. Simple prompts, controlled lighting and a streamlined queue kept things moving through busy session breaks.
CPA Congress is the kind of brief that demands more than a single camera operator. Studio Who brought a coordinated crew, a clear plan for each day, and the systems to deliver on time - including a highlight reel edited and handed over before the final farewell reception was done.
